SAIPAR undertakes capacity building events that are aimed at raising the level of professional competence and capacity of professionals in Zambia.
In the field of law, SAIPAR organized a workshop on Business Law, which was held in Lusaka from 7th January to 11th January 2013.
As a function of the Affiliation Programme, SAIPAR has begun hosting research workshops to bring together PhD and post-doc researchers conducting fieldwork in Zambia. The first Research Workshop was held in August 2013, and brought together eight researchers discussing their specific projects and receiving commentary on the theoretical and practical issues associated with their fieldwork.
The newest addition to the SAIPAR workshop series is the Publication Workshop – the first of which was held on 20 November. The Publication workshop is targeted to university lecturers, PhD students, and SAIPAR affiliates, with the goal to build local capacity in publishing. The first workshop will focued on the writing and submission of journal articles. A series of publishing workshops are planned in conjunction with the University of Zambia (UNZA) and other research institutions in 2014.
