James and Suzanna Fry Annual Lecture

SAIPAR established the James and Susanna Fry Annual Lecture in Economics in 2014 in honour of Dr. James Fry. Dr. Fry served as one of the founding lecturers in the Department of Economics at the University of Zambia. He was also a founding member of the Economics Club of Lusaka, the forerunner of the Economics Association of Zambia. After leaving the University of Zambia, he continued with his research interest and work on Zambia.

The SAIPAR Board decided to honour the contribution to education of Dr. James Fry by establishing an Annual Lecture Series in Economics to be known as the James and Susanna Fry Annual Lecture in Economics. Once a year, SAIPAR, through the James and Susanna Fry Annual Lecture in Economics, will invite a prominent academic or leader of industry to come to Lusaka and give a public lecture. The SAIPAR Board has also established an endowment to support the lecture series.

For any further information on the James and Susanna Fry Annual Lecture Series, contact the Director of Research and Programmes at marja.hinfelaar@saipar.org.
